SUPERTROPICAL DOLOMITI (Dolomiti, 2300)

During the 21st century, mankind has tried to counteract global warming through new ecological technologies and a more sustainaible lifestyle. However, the policies adopted between 1900 and 2100, based on a globalised industralization and consequently on excessive greenhouse gas emissions, had devastating effects on the planet earth. In Italy, for instance, climatic change had led to a gradual drying up of the Alps mountain landscape, causing massive famines and poverty. Then, the tropical ecosystem has started taking over the mountain chain: the pine trees, the firs and the beech trees were suddenly replaced by palm trees, tropical ferns and avocados. In 2300 the Dolomiti, eastern mountain chain of the Alps, are not anymore
recognisable fot being a ski destination but, on the contrary, they are becoming popular for tree-climbing and wild safari.
